Candidate for Lib Dem Presidency shares graphic from racist Britain First

Pauline Pearce shot to fame as the ‘Hackney Heroine’ during the London riots in 2011.

Since then, Pearce has been fascinating and honest about her background in gangs, and how she turned her life around. She has even run for a local council seat for the Liberal Democrats.

Now Pearce has put her name forward to succeed Tim Farron as Party President of the Liberal Democrats. Very worrying then to see her sharing posts from the racist Britain First group on Facebook.

Anti-fascism group Hope Not Hate describe Britain First as “the brainchild of James Dowson, the man who was once dubbed ‘the person who owned the BNP’.”

The role of Lib Dem Party President  is increasingly high profile, and requires a lot of campaigning and media know-how. Sharing content from a far-right group is utterly inappropriate for someone seeking that role.

In the comment thread below, Pearce defends sharing the post, even when people point out the vileness of the source, saying “I am on a principal ting why should it only be for muslims all should be allowed simple .. I aint helping no one just saying what I feel is right”

It shows a complete lack of awareness and, sadly, that she is not currently fit for office.
